Oyne Reels

Traditional Scottish Reels and Ceilidh Dancing

Scottish Reels & Ceilidh Dancing

Come along and enjoy Scottish Traditional Reels at Oyne Reel Club

Traditional Scottish Reels is a fun form of social dancing and goes back hundreds of years. Sitting somewhere between Ceilidh Dancing and Scottish Country Dancing, it's a little less formal than Scottish Country Dancing, with only 12 dances to learn, which are easy to pick up and can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Individual styles can be expressed and are readily encouraged. With lots of burls, turns and laughter, we have a great time at Oyne Reels! Meeting once a month in Aberdeenshire, people come from far and wide to join us. We also enjoy some Ceilidh dancing.

Oyne Reels Scottish Dancing Club - Aberdeenshire

Where it all began...

The Oyne Reel Club was first established in April 1999 to support the Millennium Weekend Celebrations in June 2000.  Part of the Millennium weekend activities included a ceilidh  and the Reel Club was started to prepare people for this part of the celebrations.  After the success of the Millennium weekend there was enormous enthusiasm to hold regular social gatherings and an annual calendar of events was established including a May Ball and a St Andrew's Ball.
